Allan Scott THE MOORLANDS Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Our Prestige Single Vineyard range of wines are produced from our best estate grown grapes and reflect low yield vines and meticulous viticulture. Special attention in the cellar in terms of handling, employing high tech and traditional methods, result in these elegant wines of limited production.
Viticulture
Sauvignon Blanc is truly a variety that is made in the vineyard. Clean and ripe fruit will always produce great Sauvignon Blanc. Picked in the cool of the early morning the fruit was quickly pressed to keep maximum flavour and freshness.
Vinification
After pressing, the wine was chilled and allowed to settle over a 24hr period. The wine was then racked, inoculated and fermented at cool temperatures for 15-20 days. A small percentage of the blend is fermented in old oak barrels. After fermentation and maturation the various batches are brought together to make a final blend.
Description
Intense tropical fruit with hints of spice, traditional Marlborough sweatiness and well integrated oak distinguish this powerful wine, the ripe passionfruit and pear flavours contributing to the rich and concentrated palate. The wine has benefited from regular battonage and the distinct natural acid makes a lingering finish.
