Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc Vineyard Select 2004

Being one of the most difficult seasons for Marlborough with rain during flowering and two quite severe frosts, things were not looking to good for vintage. However after these initial setbacks, Marlborough turned on the sun, and although tonnage’s were down, another stunning vintage was produced.

Viticulture

With almost all of our Estate owned vineyards now producing fruit, we are able to take advantage of individual characteristics of each vineyard. With different soil types and age of vine in each site we now have a mouth-filling profile of flavours that start from the typical Marlborough herbaceousness, to very ripe tropical flavours.

Vinification

Sauvignon Blanc is truly a variety that is made in the vineyard. Clean and ripe fruit will always produce great Sauvignon Blanc. After pressing, the wine is chilled and allowed to settle over a 24hr period. The wine is then racked, inoculated and fermented at cool temperatures for 15-20 days. After fermentation and maturation the various tanks are brought together to make a final blend.

Description

Vineyard Select 2004 Sauvignon Blanc is a full bodied wine that contains an abundance of fruit characters and a racy acidity. The tropical fruit flavours of passionfruit and melon in conjunction with gooseberry and lime provide a mouth-filling combination. This wine being very lively and approachable also displays a lovely touch of Marlborough herbaceousness.

Serving Suggestions

There are many occasions to enjoy the 2004 Sauvignon Blanc Vineyard Select, either as an aperitif, on its own or accompanied by seafood or salad dishes. Serve lightly chilled.
