Allan Scott Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2004

The 2004 harvest was a ‘boomer’ for Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc in terms of quality and quantity. High sugar levels and a mixture of flavour profiles make the 2004 Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc a very interesting wine.

Viticulture

With almost all of our Estate owned vineyards now producing fruit, we have the ability to take advantage of individual characteristics of each particular vineyard. With different soil types and vine age at particular sites we can obtain a mouth-filling profile of flavours from typical Marlborough herbaceousness, to very ripe tropical flavours.

Vinification

Sauvignon Blanc is truly a variety that is made in the vineyard. Clean and ripe fruit will always produce great Sauvignon Blanc. After pressing, the wine is chilled and allowed to settle over a 24hr period. The wine is then racked, inoculated and fermented at cool temperatures for 15-20 days. After fermentation and maturation the various tanks are brought together to make a final blend.

Description

A very full bodied wine that contains an abundance of fruit flavours and a spanking acidity. Pineapple, passionfruit and melon like flavours are all present, in addition to a hint of Marlborough herbaceousness. A very lively and approachable wine.

Serving Suggestions

There are many occasions to enjoy the 2004 Sauvignon Blanc, either as an aperitif, on its own or accompanied by seafood or salad dishes. Serve lightly chilled.
