Allan Scott Marlborough ‘Prestige’ Chardonnay 2002

Building on the success of the previous vintages, the 2002 Prestige Chardonnay is another stunning wine from another great harvest.

Viticulture

All ‘Prestige’ range grapes come from our Estate vines.
The vines are pruned back to two canes in winter and during the growing season they undergo meticulous vineyard husbandry techniques to ensure very ripe and clean Chardonnay, free from any vineyard diseases.

Vinification

Hand-picked in the cool of the morning and then whole bunched pressed, is the normal procedure for all our prestige wines. Fermentation is partaken in both old and new French Oak. When the fermentation is complete the wine is left to go through malolactic fermentation and then a further maturation in barrels for up to 18months.

Description

A very creamy wine with lots of ripe peach and apricot characters. The French Oak in this wine adds a little spice and a lot of complexity too. On the palate there is a range of flavors along with the rich texture of the ‘malolatic’ characters and a rich concentration of stonefruit that is perfectly balanced with the natural acidity in the wine.

Serving Suggestions

The long maturation that Allan Scott Wines has given this wine, in both barrel and bottle, ensures that this wine is at the right stage for drinking now or you can cellar with confidence for 5 years.
Ideal with white meats, savoury dishes or simply on its own.
