Allan Scott Marlborough 'Prestige' Sauvignon Blanc 2005
The Allan Scott Prestige range is only made from estate owned vines and in limited quantities. These vines are carefully selected to ensure we have a very powerful and mouth filling wine.
Viticulture
Allan Scott Prestige Sauvignon Blanc comes from the ‘Wallop’ home block, that has consistently produced top quality Sauvignon Blanc. The vines range from 15-20 years old so are now well established. Normal viticulture practices are performed during the year and with good weather and the unique characteristics of our site ensures quality fruit year after year.
Vinification
Hand picked in the cool of the morning, the grapes are gently pressed with the juice settled over night. The juice is then racked and inoculated. At the onset of fermentation the juice is transferred to barrels, both new and old French oak, until completed. The wine was then left in oak to mature for 6-8 months on its lees. During this period the wine was tasted regularly to ensure the oak integrates sufficiently The wine is then racked, filtered and promptly bottled.
Description
A very powerful wine displaying intense gooseberry, ripe pear and traditional Marlborough “sweatiness”. The ripe passionfruit flavours combine well with an integrated French oak. The palate is rich and concentrated, benefiting from regular battonage with a distinct natural acid making a lingering finish.
